I have of late revived my interest in reading quotes from famous people on the internet. Today I am going to share some funny quotes about greed and selfishness that I found on the internet.
We have all seen the impact greed and selfishness can have even on an advanced economy like America. It was greed and selfishness that led to the last financial crisis when greedy bankers took advantage of deregulation to engage in risky transactions.
As a result of this financial crisis, there was a severe economic recession that led to millions losing their jobs because of a few greedy banks.
If there is an enemy that we all need to fight then it is greed and selfishness. This all or nothing approach has not worked well for everyone. It has led to polluted waters and land in our nations. This when capitalism triumphs over any environmental consideration.
We are lucky to have a few regulations in place that help to control the impulses of some of the companies. Without them, we would all be living in a very polluted world where everything will have been polluted.
Another area that has been impacted by the greed and selfishness of some capitalists is in the area of wages and salaries. I read somewhere that the gap between the rich and the poor has grown astronomically over the past few decades. I believe that the main reason for this has been the decline in the power of trade unions or worker organizations.
It is when trade unions are strong that the balance between the power of capitalists and workers is evenly balanced and both sides benefit. Right it is the capitalists that are in control.

I hope that you have learned something from these quotes that will help you to fight greed and selfishness that continue to affect us all. Life is a fight against these bad impulses.
Most people are blinded by their riches to see how their quest for wealth might be adversely affecting other people. I once read a story of one of the richest people in America in the 1940s who made so many enemies in his quest to accoumulate as much wealth and money as possible.
The result of all this was that he lived a miserable life worrying about the safety of his investments. He was in and out of hospital because of that. Things improved when he decided to start giving away his wealth and not stress about his wealth.
I know it is easy to think that happiness increases as we accumulate the finer things of life. Unfortunately the reality is that some of the most miserable people in this world are also some of the richest as well.
Happiness is only found when we start focusing on others and not just on ourselves. If all we think about is our own welfare and zero about others we will suffer the consequences of that in poor health.
