Today I just wanted us to discuss ways on how to make an extra $1,000 a month. I would imagine that most people would love to have this every month.
Just imagine what you would be able to do with that extra $1,000. Here are some things you could do with that extra cushion.
- Pay your rent. Unless you are living in some of the big cities such as New York, London, Los Angeles, a $1000 is enough to pay all of your monthly rent in most areas.
- Increase your mortgage loan repayments and thereby reduce the time it takes to pay it off. Who wouldn’t want to do that in these uncertain times?
- Fund your dream holiday. We all have dreams of going to some of the most exotic places on earth but are held back by the cost. So this cushion should help us on our way towards our goal
- Invest. In my case investing that extra money would on the top of my list. I am at an age where I have started thinking of what would happen when I retire in 20-30 years. It, therefore, makes sense to start thinking of investments that will keep in good stead. I however wish I had started this when I just started working.
Before I present the ways to make an extra $1,000 I would like to point out that these are not the get rich quick ways out there.
To achieve your goal you have to be willing to put in the effort and sweat. You cannot achieve anything major in this world without hard work.
To accomplish this you must be willing to put in the hours and persevere for some time. Most people give up too early and therefore end up achieving very little. I have been through that and I know that without perseverance nothing big will happen.

Here are a few things you can do that will help you achieve this dream of earning an extra $1,000 a month.
Create A Youtube Channel And Monetize it
The first time that a light bulb lit in my brain about the possibility of earning a living online was through earning money with Youtube ads. I had started doing all sorts of things on the internet without any belief that I would achieve anything serious.
It was only when my Youtube channel started earning some decent but not spectacular money that I knew I was up to something. I had heard people complaining that they were earning peanuts on Youtube.
But here I was earning this money in a niche that was not one of the most sought after niches like personal finance.
You too can experience this by creating your own Youtube channel for a subject that you are passionate about.
As long as they are people interested in it you will be surprised at what you will accomplish over time. In my case, it took at least a year of posting videos to make serious money.
I guess the fact that I took some time before monetizing it helped as my focus was just on what I was satisfying my customers.
I would however advise you to avoid some obscure niches that no one or a few people know about. That would be a waste of time. Choose a niche that the common man in the street is interested in.
It only takes a few minutes or seconds actually to set up a Youtube channel The hard part is in creating the videos.
In the early days, there will very little traffic from Google or Youtube but that is to be expected. Google algorithm will at this time be deciding where to put you and to see if you are a serious Youtuber.
In my case, I always shared my new videos on my Facebook page and in Facebook groups. I don’t know how Google algorithm works but it seemed to help the ranking of my videos.
I am told Google records the views on your videos and depending on how the viewers are responding will rank you higher or lower.
Another trick to succeed in Youtube is to encourage your viewers to subscribe to your channel.
The more subscribers you have the more views you will have for your new videos. In my case, 10 percent of my subscribers would view my Youtube videos.
From my experience, if you posted videos regularly for a year on Youtube you should be able to make $1000 a month. This depends on where your audience is from.
If most of your viewers are from the United States and other western nations then you should be able to hit his milestone easily.
You can earn money through Adsense on your videos and/or affiliate marketing. In the case of affiliate marketing, you can add your affiliate links in the description area.
You just need to make sure that you inform your audience about them. Most viewers won’t read your description unless you encourage them to.

Blogging
Another way you can easily hit $1000 a month is through blogging. And the good thing is you can actually start blogging today for less than the cost of your lunch on Bluehost.
But like in any of the ways I will point out in this post you must be willing to put in the hours and persevere.
Actually Jim and Ricky of Income School have estimated that it takes 2 years of blogging to be able to actually make a living on blogging.
If you join their school which I would encourage you to do you will be assisted in going through the steps to achieve this. The Income School cost is a bit pricey but worth it if you seriously want to make it.
To hit the $1.000 a month I would expect a serious blogger to achieve this within 12 months of blogging.
If you are willing to overwork you could achieve this much earlier. But 12 months is the most reasonable period for most people to achieve this milestone. I should add that this all depends on the niche you have chosen.
For example, finance, health niches are super competitive and therefore difficult to crack. It can, therefore, take you a much longer period than the periods mentioned above. to achieve your target.
This is because you will be competing with too many established brands out there. To achieve the milestones mentioned here you may have to go for the least competitive keywords.
That will require a lot of research and most of the tools you will rely on are only estimating the competitiveness of such words or topics. You are therefore better off avoiding any finance and health-related niches.
Only pick these niches when you have succeeded in the less competitive niches first. Otherwise, your confidence in blogging or internet marketing will be zapped before it has even begun.

If you like creating handicrafts and other unique items then you can open an Etsy shop and start selling them to the millions of customers on Etsy.

If you are not good with crafts then you can consider buying vintage stuff and reselling it on Etsy. There are people who are looking to own some vintage furniture, utensils, etc.
Charity shops and thrift stores are a great place to find vintage stuff if you are patient and willing to take your time searching for them.
Just be aware that the competition is stiff but if you strike a chord with the customers there you can easily make it.
In an online setting image is everything, you therefore need to take special care in setting up your online shop. Make sure that the pictures that you take have a good background preferably a white background.
Another thing that you need to do is to create good lighting for your photos. Remember you are competing with other people who will also try to reach the same customers you are targeting.

If you like writing then the internet has opened so many doors that are ajar for you to enter.
There are so many bloggers and companies out there that are looking for people to write blog posts for them.
If you are therefore willing to write blog posts you can easily make anything from $20 to even $100 dollars a day.
To find these jobs you need to register on sites such as Fiverr, Upwork, ProBlogger Job Board, Craigslist. After registering you just need to create a good profile and in some cases create your gig.
Let’s say for example you are charging $20 for a two thousand word article. In that case, you just need to write two articles a day to make over $1000 a month.
To be honest this is a conservative figure as shown in the advert below I found on Fiverr. Here the ad is offering writing services for a 2500 word article for an equivalent of $57.
And it is not just blog posts. There are companies that are looking for people to write manuals, social media maintenance.
Make Money With Your Pickup Truck

I can however at this point mention some of them.
For example, you can allow other companies to use it for a period. In that way, your truck will not just be staying idle while you are at work or doing some other things.
Another way you can earn money with a pickup truck is by using it to take items to a flea market. In this way, you will be using it to help you out in your flea market business.
I know that not many people are comfortable with being a vendor at a flea market. However, this is one of the easiest ways to make money. There are people who make a killing at flea markets.
If the above ways are not your cup of tea then I would suggest joining the gig economy through companies such as Ubereats. In this way, you can help with food delivery for some extra cash.
One can also use his truck to transport other people’s stuff in your area. All you have to do is to advertise it on social media or at your local convenience store.
Flipping Items For Profit
Another cool way to make an extra $1,000 a month is by flipping items for profit. You can get the items for sale from thrift stores or charity shops.
And sometimes you don’t have to go far to find items to flip. You can get them in your own house.
We all have items that we are no longer using and therefore need to dispose of. These are the perfect candidates for things to flip.
There are so many places you can flip these items. Some of these include eBay, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, etc.
If you are comfortable with face to face marketing then you can flip items at flea markets.
Or you can flip them through a garage sale in your neighborhood.
There are just many places where you can flip your items for profit. Doing it within your own house gives you some form of control and is not intimidating.
All you need is to take action. Talk is cheap. There are so many people out there who talk big but achieve nothing as they do not take action.

I fyou are a person that loves pets then that could be another way to make extra cash. There are so many people that are looking for people to assist them with dogwalking.
You can link up with these dog owners on sites such as care.com. Once you register you can choose the best time to do this work.
One can actually make more money if you can keep other people’s pets while they are away on holiday or for whatever reason. In this way, you can easily make $1,000 in one month.
And the good thing about this is that you will make money while doing something you like. That is not the case with the millions of working people who hate their jobs and do them because they have no choice.
Selling Scrap Metal
When I was growing up I used to see a lot of people engaged in selling scrap metal to one of the companies in my area. It appeared to be a very lucrative thing in those days.
This trade is still on nowadays as governments world over are encouraging recycling of almost everything. All this in the hope of protecting our environment which is under increasing pressure on all sides.

While this amount might apply to the well-established Fiverr transcribers, the new transcribers should still be able to earn half of this amount.
I should however warn you that it takes a bit of time to rank in Fiverr. In the early days, you will not be on top of the search results. You, therefore, need to be patient.

Another cool way of earning extra money is through tutoring other people’s kids. This is a big market in most places.
Most parents want their kids to excel at school and are willing to pay someone to teach their children in areas they are struggling at school.
If you, therefore, like teaching, you can make yourself available to these desperate parents in your area.
You can do this by for example joining social media groups for your area.
All you can offer your services at places of worship if you are religious. The good thing with places of worship is that it is easy for parents to entrust the care of children in the hands of someone they know.
If you charged those parents $20 per hour then you need at least 50 hours a month to reach our goal of a thousand dollars.
In case you don’t go to church or other places of worship you can meet people at places such as gyms or community gatherings.
Teaching Kids Musical Instruments
Parents want their children to excel in all areas and an area that most parents are willing to pay for is music training. If you, therefore, know how to play a musical instrument you can offer to teach children that particular musical instruments.
At the moment, music instruments such as pianos, violin are in high demand. I have heard of musicians who charge as high as $40 per hour. It, therefore, won’t take many hours to be able to hit the $1,000 mark per month.
As in the case of tutoring kids, places of worship are the best places to find parents who are willing to do that. It makes it easy if you also happen to play the instrument of your choice in the same church.
This will not only attract the parents but even the children themselves will be. There’s is no better advertisement than actually proving your skills in front of potential customers.
Be an Uber Driver
I know there have been reports of Uber drivers complaining about the money they are making from their trade but that is not the whole picture.
This is because I have friends who live in big cities who are very happy with the money they are making from Uber.
If you, therefore, have a car, you need to seriously consider registering with Uber and start earning some money.
You need to be aware that you may have to provide proof of identification before you are admitted. Besides the proof of identification, you will also go through a security check by a company independent of Uber.
This should normally not take longer than a month. You could, therefore, start the process now and by next month you could start earning some money.
Minimum requirements to join Uber in USA are the following:
- Need to meet the minimum age for driving in your city.
- Have at least one year of licensed driving experience in the US or 3 years if you’re under 23 years old.
- Have a valid US driver’s license.
- Use a 4 door vehicle.
Teach Others A Foreign Language
More and more people are interested in learning at least one foreign language. Unfortunately, when you are working full time it is difficult to find time to do it.
Therefore finding someone who can teach you when you are free is something most are more than willing to do.
