In this post, I am going to share with you some of the best online tutoring jobs around. If you are into teaching and stuff then this post is for you. Your colleagues are making a killing online and you too can and should.
The internet has opened the door to jobs that used to be confined to brick and mortar buildings. Millions and millions of people are now working from home.
Nowadays as long you have a good internet connection you can find online tutor job vacancies that suit you. There are actually thousands of jobs available online for anyone who enjoys online tutoring.
While some require applicants with teaching qualifications others don’t.
Therefore for instance, if you are a fluent Spanish speaker you can easily find online language jobs where you can, for example, teach Spanish to children or adults.
One thing that I like most about these jobs is the flexibility they offer. You can for instance work at the time you are comfortable.
Therefore you can easily juggle your time between parenting and earning money.

Are online teaching jobs legitimate?
As someone who went through this, I know from experience that most of these online teaching jobs or online tutoring jobs are legitimate. You can teach kids and adults online through all sorts of companies. Some of those companies are listed in this post.
However, you have to be mindful of fraudsters too. Before you join investigate first. You can do this by reading reviews about the specific program you are interested in.
A simple search on Google can do. You just need to type the name of the program and add the word “review” or “reviews” and you should be able to get all sorts of reviews.
That will however depend on whether that firm is established or not. If it is new then it may take a few months before people start posting their reviews.
You should however be aware that most of the reviews on the internet are from affiliates. And because affiliates are also making money in the process their reviews may not be balanced in most cases.
It is therefore important that you visit a number of review sites first. I would also add that you may need to concentrate on customer review sites where real consumers of the services share their opinions without thinking of how much money they will make.
How much do online tutors make?
According to JobMonkeycom online tutors make around $12 per hour. However, the amount you get paid depends on the subject and experience. These factors can be obscured by averages and the $12 is just an average.
For example, if you are tutoring accountancy students then you should be able to make more money helping students that say an online tutor teaching history. Therefore just like outside the internet we all get different salaries the same applies for online tutoring jobs.
It is not uncommon for online tutors to earn more than $12 dollars per hour. Some can earn up to $30 dollars per hour. As I have said this depends on the subject you are teaching and also you experience. You can however accumulate your express on the job by accepting the low wage at first then thereafter you should be eligible for more.
Can you make a living as an online tutor?
Yes, you can but that depends on the hours you are prepared to put in and the availability of teaching opportunities. Online tutors earn anything from $12-$22 per hour.
If you are therefore able to get sufficient assignments from online tutoring job companies then you can easily make a living from it. All this is dependent on supply and demand.
If you are teaching a subject that is most sought after then you should be able to get enough assignments and therefore more money.
I would join a few of these companies that offer these services to increase my chances of making more money. If you join more than one company then you increase your chances of getting more assignments.
This is all a numbers’ game so you need to play your cards well and not just be stuck to one company. Otherwise you may go through days without any assignment and therefore no money.
Can I do online tutoring?
It depends on the conditions attached to the role of online tutoring you want. Some online tutoring companies have minimum qualifications they look for. Most of the biggest companies look for a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
Besides the education qualification, you need to make sure that you have broadband internet and a computer. Access to reliable internet and a computer are definitely a must regardless of the tutoring job you are applying for.
Another point you should bear in mind is that some companies look for people from a certain geographical region. There are companies that only look for online tutors from the United States or Canada.
They may also add that those being recruited should mother speakers of a language like English. If you therefore have an accent from Africa or wherever you may not be admitted. I have however seen people who teach themselves to speak in a particular accent.
You therefore can make adjustments that many not appear almost impossible to surmount.
Is Online Tutoring Safe?
Online tutoring is definitely the safest and convenient way of learning for kids or adults. This is because there is no face to face meeting between the student and the teacher.
And if the parent is always around there should be no worry that the teacher could be a sex predator. As a parent, I would expect the parent to be there at least at the beginning of the lessons just to make sure that everything is alright.
And most companies also screen tutors who teach children. All tutors will go through a strict screening process and at the same time, they make sure that all the pupils’ contact details are hidden from the tutors.
Some sites also record the lessons and make these available for download to the parents.
You therefore can safely use most of the online tutoring jobs’ companies around. Another thing that can give you confidence is the availability of feedback for the tutors.
In most western countries it is a must for anyone who teaches children to have some security clearance. It is especially strict in the European Union.
And now even some of the tutor associations are pushing for the screening of all tutors. There is literally no tolerance for tutors with criminal records or questionable morals.
This should give parents confidence in the safety protocols of these companies. I however still believe that the parents too have a duty to observe everything that their children are watching.
You cannot just put the duty on the companies. The child is your personal responsibility and you need to take that seriously.
